For those who are looking into training in DMT: Our introductory workshops are held the 3rd/4th of July and 18th/19th of September 2021, followed by interviews that may give you the possibility to access the postgraduate diploma/master’s degree.

Dance Movement Therapy

(DMT)

Is defined as the psychotherapeutic use of movement and dance within a process that promotes the psychophysical growth of the individual. It is based on the connection between movement and emotion and works with the body and its own language

DMT WORKS WITH THE BODY AND ITS OWN LANGUAGE

DMT is a multidisciplinary approach based on studies of non-verbal communication, developmental psychology, neuroscience, group dynamics, as well as theories from different psychological orientations

We offer a complete training in DMT with 100 ECTS that can be realized in three academic years

Studying the Postgraduate Diploma

IN DMT

We offer a Postgraduate Diploma consisting in 30 ECTS that develops a broad understanding of DMT

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS

Applicants holding a Bachelor’s Degree and professionals of psychology, education and medicine and other graduates or professionals with experience in dance and/or expressive movement. All applicants need to attend an introductory course and an interview.

MANDATORY

Abilities in dance and/or expressive movement. To undertake a personal psychotherapeutic process during the second and third year of the course (during the period of the clinical placement). The cost of this process is not included in the registration fee.

WE VALUE

Experience of having worked with groups/individuals in different contexts.

The capacity to be able to read English without many difficulties.

Previous experience of psychotherapy.

The 1st edition of the master’s (2003/05) was inaugurated in October 2003. On the 16th of October 2020 the 17th edition of the master in DMT will begin.

The 1st edition of the postgraduate diploma (2005/06) was inaugurated in October 2005. On the 16th of October 2020 the 15th edition of the postgraduate diploma in DMT will be opened.
