Dance Movement Therapy

(DMT)

Is defined as the psychotherapeutic use of movement and dance within a process that promotes the psychophysical growth of the individual. It is based on the connection between movement and emotion and works with the body and its own language

DMT is a multidisciplinary approach based on studies of non-verbal communication, developmental psychology, neuroscience, group dynamics, as well as theories from different psychological orientations

Studying the Master’s programme

IN DMT

We offer a complete training in DMT with 100 ECTS that can be realized in three academic years

Studying the Postgraduate Diploma

IN DMT

We offer a Postgraduate Diploma consisting in 30 ECTS that develops a broad understanding of DMT

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS

At applicants holding a Bachelor’s Degree and professionals of psychology, education and medicine and other graduates or professionals with experience in dance and/or expressive movement. All applicants need to attend an introductory course and an interview.

MANDATORY

Abilities in dance and/or expressive movement. To undertake a personal psychotherapeutic process during the second and third year of the course (during the period of the clinical placement). The cost of this process is not included in the registration fee.

WE VALUE

Experience of having worked with groups/individuals in different contexts.

The capacity to be able to read English without many difficulties.

Previous experience of psychotherapy.

More than 350 experiential shared sessions.

The 1st edition of the master’s (2003/05) was inaugurated in October 2003. On the 20th of October 2017 the 14th cohort of the master in DMT will begin.

STUDENTS HAVE TAKEN THE POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA BETWEEN 2003 AND 2017

With the involvement of students from 30 different countries.
The 1st edition of the postgraduate diploma (2005/06) was inaugurated in October 2005. On the 20th of October 2017 the 12th edition of the postgraduate diploma in DMT will be opened.
